Volunteer Activity Message

During their 3 weeks in Honduras, interns will spend each week shadowing program technicians from our Water, Public Health, and Microfinance programs, working directly with staff and community partners on the implementation of Global Brigades’ holistic development model. Interns will get a firsthand look at what goes into community development projects outside of the typical brigade experience. There is no standard experience, as interns will assist the program technicians in whatever the most pressing needs in the communities are during the 3 week program. Interns will go on community visits in small groups with the GB Honduras staff to work on project planning, community organization, and follow-up activities during the day and will assist program teams in the evening with collecting and recording information and completing visit reports.

Prior to the start of the internship, interns will also be required to complete a virtual curriculum with Global Brigades' foreign staff to gain the necessary knowledge in order to effectively work alongside the program staff. Curriculum topics include theories on sustainability, background and history of Global Brigades, and community case studies.
