Arizona Serve

  • About
Arizona Serve's mission is to help build and sustain the efforts of Yavapai County service providers and community members to continually improve the quality of life across the region. We work to support efforts in creating a just and healthy community.

As a National Service project of Prescott College, Arizona Serve is an inherently volunteer-based program. We recruit, train and place AmeriCorps VISTA members to not only serve our community themselves but to also recruit community members to serve alongside them.

On National Days of Service: Arizona Serve partners with the Yavapai County AmeriCorps Project, of Community Counts, to address community needs.

MLK Day of Service

Volunteer Activity Description
Arizona Serve will host service projects that will go on to support local schools, veterans and military families, and our environment. A centralized kickoff celebration will be held the morning of MLK Day with a keynote address to rally participants around the life and legacy of Dr. King. We are hosting this day of activities in hopes of inspiring volunteerism throughout the year and helping communities county-wide improve their access to services that provide basic needs; support out local schools, and honor the accomplishments of our veterans and service men and women. Volunteers can participate in meaningful work to help each other grow and connect with a sense of unity and compassion for each other’s efforts. There is no more fitting way to honor Dr. King’s memory than by serving others, particularly those most in need. As Dr. King himself said, “Life’s most urgent and persistent question is: ‘what are you doing for others?’”

Service Projects Include:

Humboldt and Prescott Unified School Districts:These project will support our local schools by providing school grounds maintenance, while offering volunteerism as an element of education. Activities will include painting, weeding, and cleaning.

DAV Thrift Store:
This project will support the efforts of Prescott Disabled American Veterans which provides services to better the lives of disabled veterans in our community. Volunteers will help clean their facilities and organize the hundreds of donations they receive daily.

Sharing Stories of Service with US VETS:
This project will build relationships between community members and homeless veterans. Together, they will educate one another through shared stories of life experiences and engage in a service project to support veterans in hospice.
