Throughout my life, I have learned insurable amounts through travel. During adolescence, my family lived in many different countries and loved to explore the world. Before I graduated high school, I had lived in New Zealand for 5 months, Australia for 2 months, and Nice, France for 3 months. While I attended university, I studied abroad in Paris, France for a summer and Florence, Italy for a semester. Travel has genuinely broadened my perspective of the world and provided me with an appreciation and acceptance for people different than myself. This past summer, I backpacked throughout Southeast Asia and was privileged enough to stay in multiple villages and connect with the people. What was originally a trip centered on my own personal exploration, quickly became a trip concentrated on the service others. Interacting with the villagers, especially the children, inspired me to tailor my senior thesis around service, traveling, and my passion for classical dance. I searched possible service opportunities around campus and came across Movement Exchange. Movement Exchange's vision is dance to be accessible to all, dance being synonymous with service, and dance enabling all to achieve their optimal mental, social, and physical well-being. For my senior thesis, I accepted a leadership position in the National Dance Honor Society at LMU and am assisting in the coordination of Movement Exchange recruitment, organization, and fundraising.
