Vanderbilt Medical Internship to Guatemala, Marzo 2025

Augustine's Message

As a Master’s student in the Clinical Nurse Leadership program at the University of San Francisco, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining VAW Global Health Alliances on a medical outreach trip to the communities of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala in March 2025.

During this week-long internship, I will:

Assist with patient intake and vitals
Shadow local physicians during consultations
Help distribute medications in the pharmacy
Engage in cross-cultural and professional development activities

In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients, to surpass 20,000 in 2024! A key part of VAW Global’s mission is not only diagnosing patients but also providing essential medications—something that makes these clinics unique.

I’m raising funds to help provide these life-saving medications to underserved communities. Any support would make a direct impact. Thank you for helping me make a difference!

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Vanderbilt chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to Guatemala this upcoming Spring! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at Vanderbilt will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Guatemala.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
