Volunteer Activity Description

Start Date: Jan 1, 2015 7:00 AM
End Date: Jul 1, 2015 7:30 PM

Come and join us in our January 2015 6-month long-term quest.

Volunteers support local charities in the distribution of quality and affordable medicine to needy communities. The aim is to reach remote or immobile individuals through aiding in the day-to-day running of mobile clinics, thus promoting the development and well-being of inhabitants in rural communities.

Country Information

Home to over 70 tribal groups and several languages, with small pockets of European and Asian minorities, Kenya is a melting pot of cultures, landscapes and wildlife. Equatorial Kenya promises an adventure of a lifetime discovering Africa’s finest offerings, such as tropical beaches, coral reefs, mountain views and ancient Swahili cities. All of Africa’s “Big Five” animals can be found within its borders: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceros and buffaloes, as well as the famed Blue Wildebeest. During your time volunteering in Kenya, in addition to going on a safari and learning about the tribal Masai way of life, you will learn about a variety of current issues affecting Kenyan society. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to jump in and learn!

Program fees typically include:

- Food & lodging in your host country (host family or shared residence)
- Airport transfers
- Emergency medical insurance
- In-country orientation, language training, mid-year camp, and final camp
- On-going support and supervision
- Monthly stipend for incidental expenses
