All monies from this year’s Water Party MIA will benefit the people of the Ekumfi District in the south part of Ghana.

$40 = Drinks, Delicious Food, Music, Raffles, A Silent Auction and #CleanWATER for the people of Ghana via a piped water system. ($45 donation at the door)

In brief, Water Party MIA focuses on life’s most basic need -- WATER.

Did you know? Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses. 90% of the 30,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The WHO reports that over 3.6% of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply, sanitation, and hygiene. Today more than 800 million people lack access to clean safe drinking water around the globe.

Having become aware of the abovementioned 7 years ago, with numbers reaching nearly ONE BILLION people lacking access to safe clean WATER at the time we decided to do something about and created Water Party MIA; a celebration once a year in the Magic City to gather 200-300 Miamians to rally together to raise monies to aid in the Global Water Crisis.

This year Water Party MIA turns 6 and we couldn’t be prouder of what we as a collective community have been able to accomplish – to date we have made an impact in the lives of over 5,000 people and counting in communities in Malawi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Cambodia, Honduras & Nicaragua. On our 6th Birthday we will be coming together yet again to bring another water project(s) to life in Ghana via the international non-profit Global Water Brigades. This year’s initiative will benefit 600 – 1000 people in Ghana's Ekumfi Disrict by expanding the piped water system’s reach and efficiency. The water system will provide clean and safe drinking water for the long haul to this community and ultimately transform their lives for the better. The fundraising goal set for the event is $10,000 with all monies going directly to Global WATER Brigades Ghana.
