As most of you know, I was recently accepted to participate in medical clinics in Guatemala this spring break! The trip consists of 9 days, 8 nights where I will spend every day working in clinics, serving to bring basic health care to adults and children in some of the local communites. I am volunteering with the organization VAW that has been bringing medical and dental aid to countries around the world since 2006. In 2016, VAW took over 700 volunteers to five sites during the year and managed to help over 30,000 patients and bring $75,000 worth of medications to their communities!
I am currently in my third year at Michigan State University for Psychology Pre-med with a minor in Spanish. I am working part-time along with more than a full class load and other clubs/organizations that take up some time. The trip fee alone ($1550) covers my:
transportation
meals
host families expenses
clinic supplies
I am asking for any help that friends and family can give me to make this trip possible. I am extremely excited about the opportunity I've been given to bring healthcare to another country that is in need of even basic medicines/vitamins that we are fundraising to supply for our trip. With every donation, no matter how big or small, you are bringing me that much closer to being able to help people less fortunate than we are to have hospitals and clinics in every city, on every corner.
