Alan's Message

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

I just want to start off by thanking you for your donation! Your contribution will help us immensely as we prepare for our week long volunteer trip to Honduras. As someone who has the privilege and luxury of living in middle-class America the opportunity to provide aid to those in third world countries is important to me. I am an aspiring physician and I see this trip as an opportunity to broaden my view of healthcare. I hope to be able to divulge my own knowledge to the community members we meet and in turn learn something from them as well. This will be a once in a lifetime experience and I can't wait to embark on this journey of personal growth. Cheers to all our brigade members as we strive to make as much of an impact as we can with every step that we take!

Volunteer Activity Description

Medical: Global Brigades offers 7 day Medical Brigades for volunteers to participate in throughout the year. During a medical brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
