Passionate About:

Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” once said, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it’s not.” This is why in May I will be going on a medical mission trip to help the underserved people of Nicaragua who have little to no medical access.

Through the Mercy College PA Program and Global Brigades, I will serve alongside my fellow classmates and professors to provide healthcare to those in dire need. While this will be an invaluable experience, there are several necessary expenses, some of which include medications, medical supplies, travel expenses, etc. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and will directly fund my trip to Nicaragua.

Thank you for all of your love and support as we work to make a difference in Nicaragua!! I can't wait to tell you about all my adventures when I return home! <3

Mercy PA Medical/Public Health Brigade May 2015 Nicaragua

Alexandra's Message

This coming May I will be traveling to Nicaragua with my fellow PA school classmates as part of a medical mission trip. We will provide both much needed medical services and education to the underserved people of Nicaragua who have little to no medical access. Through the Mercy College PA Program and Global Brigades, I will serve alongside my fellow classmates and professors to provide healthcare to those in dire need. While serving the underserved is an invaluable experience, there are several necessary expenses, some of which include medications, medical supplies, travel expenses, etc. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and will directly fund my trip to Nicaragua. Any and all help will greatly be appreciated by myself and my classmates. Thank you for all of your love and support as we work to make a difference in Nicaragua!!!!

Volunteer Activity Description

Global Brigades offers 7-9 day Medical Brigades throughout the year in Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors in medical consultations, and assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) trainings to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
