I believe going on the Guatemala medical trip like the one offered by this organization will allow me to get hands-on experience supported by qualified medical professionals. In addition, I am looking forward to learning new skills from the local medics and expanding my global perspective as well as exploring my career path options more closely. I also hope to gain new ways of approaching healthcare both at home and internationally, and also boosting my resume and career prospects. I am very excited for this opportunity and look forward to the trip.

Join the UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to GUATEMALA this upcoming SUMMER! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! VAW Global at UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in GUATEMALA.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2019, VAW Global treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2022! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
