Passionate About:

Hi Everybody,
This spring on March 12th I will be travelling to rural Nicaragua with a Global Water Brigade team from Indiana University – Bloomington. Our 10-day trip will focus on providing water to a rural community that otherwise would not have the ability to obtain clean drinking water. We intend to establish a water system for the people of this village and educate them on how to use it, so that they can operate sustainable irrigation and sanitation practices for many years to come.
As I have seen throughout my studies and experiences, water scarcity and waterborne disease is one of the most pressing issues of our time. According to US Water Aid, In Nicaragua alone 2 million people don’t have access to adequate sanitation and 800,000 don’t have access to safe drinking water. Fortunately, we as a global society already know how to solve these problems through technology, infrastructure, and sanitation practices.
We’re excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead, and we have been fundraising for the project costs all year. However, we still need YOUR help to make this dream a reality. We are raising funds for the cost of building and transportation, and we hope that you will consider donating.
If you would like to be part of this service through your financial support, I am collecting donations RIGHT HERE, all you have to do is click DONATE

(E-CHECK METHOD IS RECOMMENDED = NO FEES).

I am very grateful and hope that you are interested in participating in this service. If you have any questions about this service project, or any water related subject, feel free to reach out.

Happy Holidays,
Ari

Indiana University Water March 2016 Nicaragua

Volunteer Activity Description

Global Brigades offers 9-day Water Brigades throughout the year in Nicaragua. Water Brigades' mission is to empower communities to access sufficient clean water through infrastructural development, water treatment, community leader training and education. Water Brigades volunteers assist in implementing clean water systems to prevent water-related illnesses in communities with limited access to clean water. One of the fundamental roadblocks to community development is lack of clean water. With a sufficient quantity of properly treated water, community members can cut off the connection between water and illness and ultimately live healthier, more productive lives. Volunteers work side-by-side with community members as well as with our in-country project technicians in all aspects of the water system's construction while learning about its design, functionality, and long-term sustainability.
