Passionate About:

I am currently a full time undergraduate student at Temple University studying Sociology. In May 2015, I plan to volunteer abroad in Honduras for 10 days with Global Brigades. Global Brigades is the largest student led nonprofit health and sustainable development organization. The Temple University brigade that I am apart of is doing a hybrid program. We will be constructing a clean water system for the rural communities of Honduras. We will be digging trenches, connecting pipes, installing in-home water faucets, as well as providing education about clean health practices such as washing hands regularly. The other part of the hybrid program is public health with the end goal in mind to help prevent family illnesses. We will empower the rural communities to prevent common illnesses through in-home facility development, community leader training, and health education.

I love to travel and help others. Global Brigades gives me the opportunity to do both! However, doing awesome stuff is expensive! Through this website, working part time, and other fundraising opportunities I plan to raise $1,800 to fund this trip. Help me complete this goal of mine and help improve the lives of those in need by donating today. Even a $1 helps! Thank you!

About Us

Temple University is a chapter of Global Water Brigades, an international movement of university students working alongside local communities and technicians to implement clean water systems in the developing world. Water systems are designed, planned, and budgeted with partner communities and local leaders are identified by the community to serve as the community’s Water Council, which collects monthly water fees from households to operate and maintain the constructed water system. It then takes several months of construction by volunteers, staff and community members to complete and can include several large scale components, such as dams and storage tanks in order to pipe clean water to individual homes. nnIn conjunction with our Water Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with healthcare, economic development and sanitation projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.
