Yale Medical Outreach trip to Peru, March 2017

Chevonne's Message

I want to share with you a challenging opportunity that God has presented to me. From March 11th - 25th, 2017, I have been offered the chance to go to Peru with the Yale Chapter of Volunteers Around the World (VAW). This is an organization devoted to improving the standard of living for those that live in some of the most poverty-stricken communities of the world.

I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lie ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from several people. I need to raise $2,650 by December 1, 2016. The program fee and medication fund cost $1,650 (which you see here) and the airfare is estimated to cost $1,000. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be very grateful.

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Yale chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach trip to March this upcoming spring! Volunteers will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW at Yale will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Peru.

One of the most exciting and important parts of volunteering with VAW is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2016, VAW treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2017. One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.

**Note: airfare goal will be updated once flights are purchased, tentatively the week of Dec. 19.
