DePaul Public Health Brigade Honduras 2012

I recently decided to donate a week of my time and join a group of DePaul students
traveling to Honduras on a Public Health Brigade trip this June. As part of the service
trip, we will spend a week in a small village in Honduras improving several families’
health and standard of living by changing the conditions in which they live. Since Global Brigades’ operations are 100% derived from volunteer contributions, each of the volunteers has a goal of raising at least $750 for the trip in addition to paying for their own airfare. The
money is used for supplies, salaries for local professionals that will be assisting us and
volunteer housing and transportation. After the trip is over, extra funds will be used to
perpetuate the programs while volunteers aren’t there, such as conducting follow-up
and monitoring the community progress. Global Brigades is an audited not-for-profit
organization and 100% of the money donated will be used in the community.
