Global Prep Academy Global STEM Squads

  • About
Global Prep Academy aims to provide access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Our student volunteers work alongside local engineers to assess, design, and construct infrastructure projects that range from rainwater harvesters that supply drinking water for local schools to large scale community-wide water systems that pipe water directly into households. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. We need your help to reach our goals! Consider donating or joining our next Squad! We are a chapter of Squads Abroad, a 501c3 non-profit working to improve health, education and economic outcomes in the developing world with our parent organization Global Brigades.

Group Project Donation goes towards the implementation of the Cerro de Agua water system designed by Global Prep Academy students.

Volunteer Activity Description
Global STEM Squads mobilizes students abroad to improve access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Volunteers work alongside local engineers to assess, design, and construct infrastructure projects that range from rainwater harvesters that supply drinking water for local schools to large scale community-wide water systems that pipe water directly into households. STEM Squads is a program of Global Brigades, a highly recognized international development organization that uniquely implements a Holistic Model that targets specific UN Sustainable Development goals within partner communities. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably transitioning to a relationship of impact monitoring.
