Last year I travelled to Bocas del Toro, Panama with volunteers around the world (VAW) and the experience was amazing. My mother is from Panama the previous I got to visit there with my aunt. She got sick on our trip and that is when I got to see that the health care in certain countries is not as advanced as others. The nurses carried out un-hygienic practices that caused a great desire in me to go back and spend some time volunteering to help out in way way that I could. VAW gave me the opportunity to do that and the experience was extremely rewarding.
My heart yearns to go back and help the native indian population of Central America that I have grown to love. This is why for this spring break I am taking a trip to San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. The money will be used to raise funds to pay for my sister and my trip fees (to cover doctors, housing, medication, etc.) and plane tickets.
