Global Health Summer Internship Ghana(July)

Jenny's Message

I am SUPER excited and blessed to say that I will be volunteering in MANKESSIM, GHANA this summer! I will be working in the village's medical clinics and assisting doctors as a Global Health Intern. I'll also be undertaking various other community health projects while I'm there in efforts to improve the public health and overall living conditions for the villagers.

In my studies at UT I've learned a lot about anthropology, public health, and health education—but this will be my very first hands-on international health project! I am really looking forward to the opportunity to put to use everything I have learned so far in a practical, meaningful way! :)

I will be in Africa from July 6 to August 3, and I'll obviously be missing and thinking of you guys back in the USA! I would be really grateful for any support you could provide to help me with the expenses for my trip. Any donations you can offer will make a tremendous difference in contributing to our group’s efforts in improving public health in the world’s underserved communities!

Please feel free to spread the word that I'm headed to Ghana! Thank you for not just be helping me, but for also helping support little kiddos who don't have the money or resources for adequate health care. Nobody likes being sick and I'm so grateful for this opportunity to help care for some people who need it most! Please let me know if you have any questions about my trip. I really appreciate all of your positive thoughts and support!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! ♥

Why Participate in the Internship?

From a 2012 Summer Intern-

"For the first several weeks after I got home from the internship, I was unable to talk about anything else. I told anyone and everyone who would listen everything I had done, learned, and experienced. Spending a whole month in Honduras working with Global Brigades and getting a glimpse of its long-term successes inspired me and brought me alive. And from conversations with my fellow interns, I know they felt the same transformation and the same desire to share their experience when they returned home."
