Passionate About:

Hello Friends,
Global Brigades is a non-profit organization which travels to underdeveloped communities to empower them to become self-sustainable. I went on my first Brigade the summer of 2016 to Honduras. In Honduras the total expenditure on health per capita is $191 (2011, The World Bank). Over just nine days our brigade served 638 patients, built five sustainable homes to prevent chronic illnesses and created a plethora of smiles. I had never experienced such heart wrenching poverty first hand. Tears filled my eyes every day with these emotional and intimate relationships I developed within a short amount of time with the families of Honduras.

This incredible experience in Honduras has made me an addict. I had become a leader for the Global Brigade chapter at San Francisco State University in 2017. Now in 2018 I plan on going on my third brigade. I plan no matter where my life takes me to be involved with humanitarian work in under served communities.

This summer, Global Brigades at San Francisco State University is going to Nicaragua! I am eager to build water systems for a community that walks miles up the mountain to by hand collect water. In my previous two brigades we gave every single patient (1,051 people) an anti-parasitic medication because everyone was infected of a parasite from contaminated water. Everybody, especially the children, suffer from dehydration by not drinking enough water, and then they have diarrhea from the contaminated water that they have access to. This being said, going on a water brigade is the number one priority of these communities.

I am excited to be working with fellow brigaders that are as passionate as I to create a better world. I would be deeply grateful for any donation in support of my passions towards helping others.

About Us

San Francisco State University is a chapter of Global Medical Brigades, an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work in remote, rural, and under resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Ghana who would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. nnIn conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring.
