Kevin & Cherilyn's Message

To our family and friends,

First, a little bit about us. We have been married for 10 months, and we have big goals and are working every day towards achieving them.

Cherilyn recently graduated from Weber State University in April of 2018 with a bachelorette degree of integrated studies with three emphases in Child and Family Studies, Health Promotion, and Nutrition Education. Her goal is to become a Child Life Specialist. Child Life Specialists play an important role in caring for hospitalized children and their families. They are responsible for knowing and understanding all aspects of a child's care while at the hospital and then teaching and explaining the process to the child in a way that they can understand. For those who know Cherilyn, it is plain to see that she is an excellent fit for this career.

Kevin is on the path to a career in medicine, he is currently working on completing all of the pre-medical courses along with his degree work at Weber State University. Extracurricularly he is involved in volunteering in the community, leadership in school organizations, physician shadowing, academic research, and patient care as a phlebotomist at the University of Utah Hospital. He will apply to medical school in June of 2019.

Previous to marriage and this current rigorous academic regimen, Kevin served a mission for the LDS church in Seoul, South Korea. At the same time, Cherilyn continued her schooling, volunteered with an international language teaching program in Thailand, and spent four months as a live-in nanny in Alaska.

We have big plans moving forward. As a major stepping stone to reaching our goals, we are participating in a medical mission through an organization called One World Surgery. One World Surgery and TOSH Orthopedic medical center have partnered with an orphanage home located in Honduras for orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. We will be traveling with the medical team to Honduras this October to assist as volunteers in caring for patients undergoing major orthopedic surgical procedures.

We estimate that the cost of our participation in this week-long medical mission will exceed $3,000. We are humbly reaching out to those who have been so supportive in our journey thus far, to ask for financial support towards this opportunity.

In return for your kindness, we will send a letter recounting our experiences, impressions, and growth as well as photos from the experience. We thank you in advance for your support and we hope that you feel the spirit of service with us as we contribute to a great cause together.

With love and appreciation,
Kevin & Cherilyn Seely
