Passionate About:

Hello friends and family,

This spring break, I will be traveling to Panama with the world's biggest student lead nonprofit organization to provide hands-on work alongside community members to promote environmentally sustainable development.

The purpose of our trip is to educating the rural Panamanian community on basic waste management, and environmental education with a specific emphasis on reforestation, sustainable agriculture, waste management, and environmental education.
They will gain knowledge, power, and confidence to ultimately be self-sustainable. In addition, we will be building agricultural infrastructures to benefit the community. I am extremely excitedto have this opportunity and I know we will have a great, positive impact on their community.

The cost of my trip is $1500, and as a broke college student I need as much help as I can get to fund the trip. Any size donation helps and will go a long way.

Thank you in advance, if you would like to know more about my trip feel free to message me!
Help spread the word!

Pennsylvania State University Environmental Brigade March 2017 Panama

Volunteer Activity Description

Global Brigades offers 7-day Environmental Brigades throughout the year in Panama. Environmental Brigades provide student volunteers with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in environmental management and education by empowering community members in rural communities. During brigades, volunteers spend time with environmental committees to better understand the region's pressing environmental concerns and potential for improvement. Through interactive workshops and the implementation of physical projects, student volunteers provide the education and physical assistance necessary for these families to sustain long-term behavioral change, which will benefit the well-being of not only themselves but their surrounding environment as well. Subsequent brigades build on each other and therefore, projects are continued through successive phases year after year. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with our community leaders to ensure the continuation of projects started by brigades and to provide follow-up on community members’ feedback as well as next steps.
