Hi,

I'm studying Social Anthropology and Development Studies at SOAS, and my aim is to work in the field of Development in the future. This summer, I'm taking part in the SOAS GlobalBrigades in Ghana on Microfinance, to challenge myself in field experience. I'm determined to carefully understand the needs and situation of the people we work with, in order to bring them sustainable development opportunities.

Indeed, our world has too many problems that are waiting for us to tackle; so many, that it seems impossible and even tiring for us to solve any of them at all. But "there is nothing so pitiful as a young cynic because he has gone from knowing nothing to believing nothing", says Maya Angelou. I believe that if we work together, contribute to this world in our own little ways, and make those little changes within our abilities, all these little things will grow into great positive changes.

If we work alone, we are limited and vulnerable. And ambitious development goals will seem ever so far away that we may want to give up. But we are not alone, because we are blessed with our families, friendship and community ties that we grow up with. With your help, we can work together and achieve something that seemed impossible, possible. In the broader context, the journey towards a better world for everyone is still a long walk away, but if we take this step together and assist each other on the way, we'll get there soon. And we'll get there through sharing, understanding and mutual support.

To make this project happen, I need to raise £550 to cover the costs of the "microloan" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcredit) to the local community and my accommodation in Ghana. I would really appreciate it if you could make a donation for my cause, for the knowledge of your support will bring me greater faith in this world, and shall never forget that the key to achieving something good is to never give up on our beliefs.
