First, you are amazing! Thank you so much for helping me be apart of something that is much bigger than myself!! You are donating to an amazing cause and your generosity will be felt around the world.

A little about myself, my name is Linsey Schiemann and I am a Senior at Virginia Tech. I will be graduating in May of 2017 with my degree in Food, Nutrition, Food, and Exercise. I am striving to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy I am looking forward to my future as a medical professional. I am very excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity and looking forward to doing God's work and His will around the world.

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Virginia Tech chapter as the lead a Medical Outreach trip to Peru this upcoming winter! Volunteers will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW at VT will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Peru.

One of the most exciting and important parts of volunteering with VAW is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2016, VAW treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2017. One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.

**Note: airfare goal will be updated once flights are purchased, tentatively the week of Nov. 1.
