University of Georgia Medical Internship to Peru, May 2022 Group B

Madison's Message

Hi everyone! I am so excited to share that I will be travelling to Cusco, Peru for 2 weeks this summer with UGA’s Volunteers Around the World Medical Team. While in Peru, I will be volunteering in mobile clinics throughout the area to help provide medical care to people in need. I will also have the opportunity to work alongside local medical staff and to teach children about the importance of health education. I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to go on this amazing medical mission trip, but we need help raising money so that we are better able to serve the people of Peru! If you would like to be a part of this journey, prayers, thoughts, and any financial help would be greatly appreciated. Volunteer Activity Description

Join the UGA Medical chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to Peru this upcoming Summer! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at UGA will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Peru.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2019, VAW Global treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2020. One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.

**Note: airfare goal will be updated once flights are purchased, tentatively the week of [January 25-February 7]
