About
Chirapa, which means rainbow in the regional Quechua dialect, is a beautiful village tucked into the rolling hills.
Most Chirapans work in the fields on individual farming plots and small coffee and cacao cooperatives. GCN’s collaboration with Chirapa is also supported by JIREH, a local non-profit that works on small-scale development projects in several villages in this community. Even though the regional dialect is Quechua, most Chirapans speak Spanish because of a historical attribution of inferiority to the Quechau dialect. Chirapa has invited GCN to assist the community with building projects at the local school.
