• About Mision Gaia
Misión Gaia implements participatory planning to empower local communities in the sustainable use of their environment, increasing educational levels to improve living standards, ensuring the availability and diversity of resources over time.

Misión Gaia works with rural communities in the Colombian Caribbean and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain range in the world, which reaches 5.700 m and has a complex network of ecosystems.

    OUR VISION
We envision united communities that protect diversity, develop low-impact environmental processes, promote awareness of conservation and responsible consumption as well as encourage respect for nature.

J Term Team Colombia

Misión Gaia is a local NGO that works hand in hand with local communities. We understand their current needs to support and develop programs that help them on solving needs to improve their standards of living. Every experience from our volunteers helps us to strengthen our relationships with the community. A group of graduate students from the Monterey Institute of International Studies will be volunteering their skills and time in January 2014 to implement a sustainable tourism project with Misión Gaia.
