University of Houston Medical Internship to Uzbekistan, May 2025

Naomi's Message

Hi everyone! My name is Naomi, and I’m currently a biology major at UH with minors in medicine and society, as well as leadership studies. I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to participate in a medical internship that will allow me to gain hands-on experience, broaden my skills, and prepare me for medical school. This internship is an essential stepping stone in my journey to become a healthcare professional and help make a difference in the lives of others.

To make this dream a reality, I’m reaching out to ask for your support. I’m fundraising to cover the costs associated with this internship, and any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me. This experience will not only enhance my learning but will also help me grow into the physician I aspire to be!

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the University of Houston chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to Uzbekistan this upcoming Summer! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at University of Houston will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Uzbekistan.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
