Platte County High School

  • About
Platte County High School is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. As a Global Education Squad, our group works in under resourced schools abroad to supplement local curriculum, provide one-on-one tutoring, and make physical improvements to the school’s infrastructure that improve learning outcomes.

Please consider joining our chapter to volunteer with us or donate directly to the school infrastructure project that our partner schools have requested.

Volunteer Activity Description
Welcome to the ENROLLMENT and DONATION pages for SQUADS ABROAD

Squads Abroad empowers student organizations around the world to improve health and educational outcomes. Our Squads model matches adult-led school groups with community driven sustainable initiatives. Each Squad chooses a defined focus area, volunteer partner organization, and an enrichment project that our groups contribute towards and complete during their trip. Our volunteers provide people-to-people educational support as well as the tangible accomplishment of a much needed small construction project. Squads stay at our safe and private home-base accommodations and are guided by our professional staff from the native country. Squad programs also include fun and engaging cultural activities which provide a deeper cultural context and understanding.

Squads Abroad is a program of Global Brigades, a 501c3 international non-profit that uniquely implements a holistic model to meet community’s health and economic goals. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized tens of thousands of students and professionals through skill-based programs that work in partnership with community members to improve the quality of life in under-resourced regions while respecting local culture.

Platte County High School Squad will be traveling to Guatemala from June 21-27, 2020. As a Global Education Squad the group will partner with an underserved school in the community of Tecpan to improve educational outcomes. The group will stay at our private and safe home-base accommodations in Tecpan where our local professional staff provide all transportation, food, lodging, and activities. Each weekday morning the Platte County Squad will complete valuable small construction projects and classroom support. Each afternoon the group will enjoy guided cultural activities in the surrounding area.
