  • About
Princeton University's Chapter of Circle of Women was founded in the fall of 2009 and although we are a relatively new organization on campus, we have already had a number of fundraisers and awareness events, with many more to come.

Circle of Women is a new kind of non-profit, run entirely by full-time students and young professionals. The organization collaborates with communities eager to implement innovative, sustainable, and localized solutions to increase girls’ access to secondary schools.

Circle of Women believes that one educated girl affects one community, and that one community effects a world of change. Our ultimate goal is to encourage all women and girls to be these agents of change.

Project Daraja

Volunteer Activity Description
Join in our efforts by volunteering with us!

This year, the Princeton Circle of Women Chapter is hoping to work in cooperation with Daraja Academy in Kenya to build a dormitory for the female students. Daraja functions as one of the very few completely free boarding schools for girls in all of East Africa. Hopefully, the housing will allow for students to concentrate fully on obtaining an education separate from the difficult issues many face at home. Importantly, Daraja recognizes the need to go beyond individual education, encouraging the girls to engage in community service projects and share their knowledge with their local communities.

Circle of Women believes that one educated girl can empower an entire society, which in turn can change an entire world. This is precisely the philosophy that Daraja puts into action every day.

In collaborating with Daraja, the girls at Princeton would be providing the means by which to implement progress in a local community – progress that would have a global impact.
