My passion for providing medical care to communities in need is rooted in a strong belief in health equity. I am driven by the conviction that everyone regardless of their background or location, deserves access to quality healthcare. Seeing the disparities in healthcare access has inspired me to take action. I am motivated by the idea that every contribution no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference. Through volunteering and collaborating with healthcare teams along with using my skills I aim to help bridge the gap and improve health outcomes in underserved communities, ensuring that all individuals have the chance to live healthier lives.

About Us

The San Diego State University chapter of VAW Global Health Alliances (VAW Global) is made up of students who are enthusiastic and committed to addressing the health disparities that currently exist in developing countries. Through close collaboration with VAW Global, our club at San Diego State University strives to provide rural communities in developing countries with access to medical treatment, medication, and nutritional and health education.

VAW Global San Diego State University Medical Team A Internship to Dominican Republic, May 2025

 Join the San Diego State University chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to the Dominican Republic this upcoming Summer! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information! VAW Global at San Diego University will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in the Dominican Republic. One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care. **Note: airfare is not included
