Great Oaks Charter School Bridgeport Global STEM Squads

Great Oaks Charter School Bridgeport STEM TeleSquads aims to provide access to clean water in rural under resourced communities through applying STEM skills. Our student volunteers work alongside local engineers to assess, design, and construct infrastructure projects that range from rainwater harvesters that supply drinking water for local schools to large scale community-wide water systems that pipe water directly into households. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. Green Hope Medical Squads

Green Hope Medical Squad Chapter aims to improve health care access and sanitation infrastructure for children in under resourced communities abroad. Our Squad travels abroad to conduct mobile health clinics for children that include primary health care and vision and dental screenings. We also learn about and address some of the systemic issues behind preventable diseases in the community by implementing health workshops and building handwashing stations alongside local students. Each of our student volunteers has a donation goal to help cover logistical expenses while abroad such as transport, local staff, meals, insurance, accommodations, but most important, the year-round follow-up to our project by local staff to ensure the sustainability over time. Guatemala Summer Leadership Summit

The Summer Leadership Summit provides the opportunity for smaller groups of adult-led student leaders to join together to make an impact and experience a week long Squad program with the intent of offering a program in their community in the upcoming year. A minimum of three (3) students with at least one (1) adult chaperone are required to join the Summit.

The Hamilton School District is a chapter of Squads Abroad, a non-profit supporting sustainable development goals to improve health and education outcomes in partner communities abroad. As a Global Education and Health Squad, our group works in under resourced schools abroad to supplement local curriculum, provide one-on-one tutoring, make physical improvements to the school’s infrastructure that improve learning outcomes, increase access to healthcare services, deliver health workshops alongside local students, and build water and sanitation infrastructure projects that help keep students healthy and attending school. Our group also examines the social determinants of public health in the community through visitations of local health organizations and guest speakers to be able to compare and contrast our health systems at home. Harlandale HS (TX) Global Medical Squads

Harlandale HS (TX) - Global Medical Squad will participate in a medical clinic that will provide primary health care services to under-resourced communities with limited to no access to medical care. During the clinic, students will assist with intake, triage, shadow our physicians, provide education workshops, and help to distribute medicine in the pharmacy. In addition students will help build the capacity of community health workers on chronic illness screening techniques. Included in the program fee is a contribution that makes our medical clinics possible.
