Fundraising Campaign Description

End Date: Dec 1, 2013 12:00 AM

During the week of August 13-19, 2012, students from the University of Cincinnati PHB befriended the family of Don Osman Garay. While in his home, they worked together implementing the five public health specific projects: concrete floors, eco-stove, and hygiene station composed of a shower, water storage unit (pila) and latrine. However one project remained that Don Osman and his family lacked, a water line.

Due to the logistics of Don Osman's home, he was too far to be connected to his community's, El Canton, water source. After U. Cincinnati's brigade, however, the community next door, El Jute, offered to connect Don Osman's family to their water system. As this community is much closer, a water line is now be possible for Don Osman.

The students of U. Cincinnati PHB have now stepped up to fundraise for the water project for Don Osman and his family. With their help, the materials needed for the water project will be covered while Don Osman and his family will cover the labor force needed. Together, with the help from such enthusiastic and passionate students, Don Osman and his family are one drop closer to obtaining a water line in their home!
