I am passionate about volunteering. I currently volunteer with an animal rescue group and as an assistant coach of two synchronized swimming teams. Eventually I would like to become more involved in other areas including wildlife rehabilitation, promoting literacy, women/minority/sexuality issues and rights, human trafficking and environmental protection.
I want to specifically go on this medical/public health brigade because my brother, Maurizio, was so enthusiastic about traveling to help the more vulnerable populations and especially going to Nicaragua because this trip would have been his first medical mission. I want to go in his place to learn more about him and the last part of his life that he loved and enjoyed so much and to heal my own grief by helping others.
