Hi everyone!!
For those who do not know me, my name is Yareli and I am 19 attending Arizona State University.
I am apart of Global Health Bridges organization on campus! This summer the organization is traveling to Honduras from July 21st - 27th! So the international brigade experience will focus around the creation of sanitation systems, as this is a big issue with public health in these rural communities. The sanitation system will consist of a water storage unit for washing clothes, a shower, and a bathroom. The people receiving these stations typically use the bathroom in a bush outside their house and walk to the river to wash their clothes and bathe. So this has a huge impact on their overall sanitation practices and just basic privacy! Along with this, we will be conduction charlas, which is community health education for both the children and adults. This is such a fun aspect of the brigade and really lets the students connect with the community. It is a unique hands on experience that I have always wanted to do!
