San Francisco, CaliforniaPassionate About:
I am deeply committed to making a meaningful impact in healthcare by addressing not only the medical needs of individuals but also the broader social, cultural, and systemic contexts that affect health outcomes. This internship with VAW Global Health Alliances provides a rare opportunity to immerse myself in healthcare systems that are structured differently from what I know, offering invaluable insights into the unique challenges and successes of delivering care in low- and middle-income countries.
By working alongside local healthcare professionals in Vietnam, I will gain a deeper understanding of how healthcare operates at the community level and how various factors—like resource limitations, cultural practices, and public health infrastructure—shape the delivery of care. This experience is about more than just clinical skills; it’s about building cultural competence and adaptability, which are crucial for any healthcare provider working in diverse settings.
For me, making a difference in global healthcare requires a holistic perspective—one that combines empathy, cultural awareness, and a commitment to service. This internship aligns perfectly with my mission to contribute to global health equity, while also expanding my understanding of healthcare on a global scale.
