I began dancing at the age of three and I quickly fell in love with movement and the freedom of expression and creativity that dance gave me. As I grew older I decided I wanted to teach in order to share this passion with others. I decided to major in Dance Pedagogy at Butler University. While at Butler I have found opportunities to learn how to teach and engage in my community in more than just my coursework. I discovered Movement Exchange during my sophomore year and I loved the message and mission of the organization. I became active in volunteering, and my junior year I was elected president of the Butler University chapter. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Movement Exchange has given me to share my passion for dance with others. I strongly believe in dance's ability to foster not only self confidence and creative expression, but also a sense of community, social equality and inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding.
I am thrilled for the opportunity to unite all of this in a unique international exchange to Panama through Movement Exchange this December!
