Hello and welcome to my Empowered website!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Fred Wu and I am a third year student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program at McMaster University. My dream is to work in healthcare in the future, as I am passionate about health, be it at home or abroad. I also dream about exploring and learning about the world! So, getting involved in the Global Medical Brigades was a no-brainer.

As a member of the Brigade, I will be travelling with 40 other students and 6-7 physicians to Panama, Central America. There, we will set up medical clinics in areas where there is limited access and provide healthcare to the people within those communities. It is an exciting, but also gigantic task.

For the past few months, the Brigade has been hard at work collecting medication, recruiting volunteers, raising funds, and contacting physicians to make this trip a success. But there is still much to do.

And so, we need your help! Each of us needs to raise $1700, which covers the cost of the flight, meals, lodging, in-country travel and the Brigade Coordinators. Any form of support we receive is greatly appreciated.

The communities we help receive a Brigade every 3-4 months. Our goal is to introduce a consistently high standard of health care into these communities in need, and empower local leaders to sustain it.
