Maleeka's Message

Hey Friends and Family!. Yes, I am a poor college student with BIG DREAMS!
This upcoming January, I am hoping to travel with Stony Brook University's Medical Outreach team to Cambodia. This is the FIRST time they are taking one of their teams to Southeast Asia; which makes this trip more compelling to me. Our goal is build medical clinics as well as increase access to medications in the local communities. Also, I would have the opportunity to work alongside Healthcare professionals to further enhance my education in the health field. With all that said, please donate anything you can.{2 dollars, 5 dollars, 10 dollars.. 20 dollars - it all adds up} Please help me , help others. Thank you

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the SBU chapter as the lead a Medical Outreach trip to Cambodia this upcoming Winter! Volunteers will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW at SBU will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Cambodia.

One of the most exciting and important parts of volunteering with VAW is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2016, VAW treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2017. One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.

**Note: airfare goal will be updated once flights are purchased, tentatively the week of November 17-24
