PanamaPassionate About:
When I first got to IU, I heard about movement exchange and knew that I wanted to be involved. As an organization, we believe in serving others through dance. Three times a week we teach free dance classes to kids in economically unprivileged areas, who wouldn't be able to afford dance classes. I go to the Middle Way House every week, and I can personally tell you the difference that dance makes in these kids lives. Middle Way House serves as a domestic violence shelter, and these kids go through a lot of hardship in their young lives, and dance is one of the things that really brightens up their day. Their faces light up when we walk through the gate of their playground.
This winter, we will be traveling to Panama, and going to different orphanages to teach kids the joy of dance, as well as giving and receiving a cultural exchange experience! I know that dance has changed my life. It makes me happy, it gives me purpose, and it helps me through the rough times in my life. I just want to share this with others! When deciding if I could afford this trip, I almost chose not to go. But I felt so called to this mission that I couldn't turn away, no matter the cost. With this in mind, please help me help others! Only $15 will fund a dance class for 30 children in Panama!
