My passions are many but if I have to narrow it down, I'd say I'm most passionate about traveling to new countries where I can immerse myself in the culture, learning about the people and their customs, their food, their religion, their language, and their day to day life. To be able to achieve all of this, and at the same time, be able to help rebuild a village that was 99% destroyed by last year's earthquake, is an honor and a gift. For a month I'll be living in a tent in the small village of Takure and working with the people of Takure and other volunteers from all over the world. We'll be working on sustainable projects (organic gardening, building wells and water filtration, building houses and schools from bricks made by us, helping to teach in the schools etc) to get the village up and running again. Every few dollars that are donated mean more bricks, more building supplies, school supplies...so much is needed! 100% of donations go to this rebuilding effort.
