Mississippi State University Team A Veterinary Internship to Peru, June 2025

Evan's Message

Hello everyone! My name is Evan Stout and I am currently attending Mississippi State University pursuing a degree in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture with a concentration in Wildlife Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I was beyond blessed with the opportunity to travel with other students to Peru next summer to further my knowledge and practice in veterinary medicine. We will also be able to indulge ourselves in the culture in Peru while helping underprivileged communities through community service and education for kids. However, this trip costs a lot of money for the flight, amenities, and other expenses that come with the trip. In order to help decrease the overall costs and spread awareness of their mission, Volunteers Around the World (VAW) uses this website to help allocate donations to help support my trip. This can only happen with your support. By donating through this website and participating in our fundraisers, you directly help support me to help support VAW’s mission and allow students like myself get the experience of a lifetime while getting hands on experience needed for vet school. I hope you can help support me in achieving my dream.

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Mississippi State University chapter as they lead a Veterinary Outreach Internship to Peru this upcoming Summer! Interns will work in mobile clinics, where they will have the opportunity to take patient history, basic vital signs, shadow veterinarians, learn about the importance of different animals in locals lives and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at Mississippi State University will be opening up mobile veterinary clinics for local communities as well as assisting at local animal care facilities during their time in Peru.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
