Passionate About:

I am passionate about helping people heal and feel empowered through their health and medicine because I truly believe that the power of healing lies in the ability to understand and care for one’s body, mind, and spirit. This holistic approach is something I’ve seen transform lives, and it has driven my desire to pursue a career in medicine. Medicine is not just about diagnosing and treating illness; it's about partnering with patients to help them achieve their fullest potential for health and well-being.

Georgia State University Medical Team A Internship to Dominican Republic, Jun 2025

Taia's Message

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to announce that I’ve been given the opportunity to participate in a Medical Outreach program in the Dominican Republic! This trip will be in partnership with an organization called Volunteers Around the World, whose mission is to provide accessible and equitable healthcare to underserved communities.

During this experience, I’ll have the opportunity to work on medical outreach projects, learn from local healthcare professionals, and gain hands-on experience in areas such as disease prevention, nutrition, and sanitation. I’ll also be able to explore how social, economic, and environmental factors impact healthcare outcomes. This experience will be invaluable as I work toward my goal of becoming a healthcare professional, and I’m eager to contribute to improving medical access for all.

To make this experience possible, I need your help covering the costs of the program and medical supply fees. Every donation brings me closer to achieving this dream and making a positive impact on the medical field.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support. I’m truly grateful for your help in making this incredible opportunity a reality! I can’t wait to share my journey with you!

With love,
Taia

Volunteer Activity Description

Join the Georgia State University chapter as they lead a Medical Outreach Internship to Dominican Republic this upcoming Summer! interns will work in mobile medical clinics, where they will have the opportunity to intake patients, conduct public health surveys, take vitals, shadow local physicians, work in the pharmacy, teach education classes, and much more! If you’re interested in joining, contact us for more information!

VAW Global at Georgia State University will be opening up mobile medical clinics for local communities during their time in Dominican Republic.

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2023, VAW Global treated over 17,500 patients and we aspire to treat over 20,000 in 2024! One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients, but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care.
