Southeast Missouri State Medical Brigade August 2018 Honduras

This Global Medical Brigade will be 7 life changing days in Honduras. During a Medical Brigade, volunteers have the opportunity to take vitals and patient history in triage, shadow licensed doctors (OBGYN, Medical and Dental) during consultations and procedures as well as assist in a pharmacy under the direction of licensed pharmacists. Each of our partner communities receives a brigade approximately twice a year until the community is developed enough to be self sustained. We call those communities "empowered" and there are currently 11 empowered communities in Honduras thanks to Global Brigades holistic model. Between brigades, our in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and to conduct Community Health Worker (CHW) training sessions to empower local leaders to sustain a consistent level of healthcare. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends. Join us to help grow the movement!
